ACCEPTED WASTES

We can accept the following types of waste:

1. Food Processing Wastewaters:

2. Vehicle Wash Waste:

3. Hotel and Prison Laundry Wastewater

4. Swimming Pool Wastewater

5. Process Wastewaters:

If the waste to be processed falls into one of the above categories, Southwest Treatment Systems, Inc. can begin your job upon receipt of the following:
  1. A completed Southwest Treatment Systems, Inc. Waste Generator Prequalification Questionnaire; and
  2. A good representative sample of the waste to be disposed of at the facility.

After STSI has reviewed the questionnaire and sample, we may then require additional analysis by a certified laboratory. These precautions protect you and ensure compliance with the EPA and other regulatory organizations.

Wastewater from drilling of drinking water wells is acceptable to treatment at Southwest Treatment Systems, Inc., provided that each load sent to STSI for treatment is accompanied by a complete analytical report containing, at minimum, results of testing for metals and cyanide regulated under the Districts' Phase I limits, as well as toxic volatile organics per EPA Test Methods 601 and 602 (or alternatively EPA Test Method 624).

Wastewater from drilling of wells and cleanup associated with groundwater contamination investigations may not be accepted for treatment at STSI without prior written permission from the Districts of each particular generator of the waste. Each request for approval to accept the waste must be accompanied by a description of the site at which the waste was generated, the specific operations which generated the waste, and full analytical data on the waste, including metals, cyanide, toxic volatile organics, and a 96-hour LC/50 for aquatic toxicity.

If the waste to be processed DOES NOT fall into any of the above categories, Southwest Treatment Systems, Inc. needs to obtain the following information for approval by County Sanitation:

1. A complete Southwest Treatment Systems, Inc. Waste Generator Prequalification Questionnaire;

2. A good representative sample of the waste to be disposed of at the facility, and

3. A wastewater profile analyzed by a certified laboratory for the following:

4. Dissolved Sufide

Note: STSI treats waste from food generators containing animal and vegetable oils separately from all other wastewaters. We cannot accept loads that have been commingled; i.e. a restaurant grease trap mixed car wash waste. We also require that the truck be washed out in between hauling these different types of waste.
